Chicago on the Cheap

How I did Chicago for under $500:

1. Find $200 round trip tickets on www.travelzoo.com - call a friend to come with you and buy immediately.

2. Stay at Mil's place instead of a pricey hotel for $85 a night! https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/159801 or check out www.airbnb.com
- This is a cool website. Just make sure they have lots of good reviews and you'll be good! This was my first airbnb experience and it was absolutely perfect!

3. Buy a 3 day CTA pass for $20 to have access to all public transportation for 3 days (hint: don't lose your pass and have to buy another one though - like I did. Duh!)

4. Splurge on the good stuff like the Skydeck ($18), all the deep dish pizza you can eat (it's pretty cheap!), the Art Institute ($17. eh, it was alright), and the architectural cruise with the coolest tour guide ever ($32).

5. See the free sites! The bean, Millenium park, Navy Pier, the beach, and the shops!

Check out RPM! For all you Guiliana and Bill fans out there!

Had a blast! Where should my next adventure be?!?!

Labor Day 2013

We spent Labor Day resting from our labors up in Park City - yes, we love that place so much!

We then had a fun tin foil dinner roasting evening with some great friends! Pics to come!

Young Women Reunion

I'm not sure I can put into words what the Young Women's program in the church means to me. Let's just say I had nearly every one of my young womens leaders in the temple with me for both my endowment and my sealing. It was truly magical.
I am so glad we planned a reunion and it was definitely good to catch up with everyone!
And yes, the three amigas are back together!

Shoes

We found out we have a small obsession with Adidas Kanadia shoes. They are divine.
I actually do use them to trail run, but Nick's are for show. Haha.
And how did I end up with so much pink? I never wear pink...

My Birthday

I am officially 26 years old. I think. I can never remember how old I am. I always used to think people were nuts when they couldn't remember their age - but the higher the number, the easier it is to forget. *Wink *Wink
And apparently being 26 has messed with my memory, because I also can't remember what we did for my birthday either!
I know I had a fun birthday week with a free antigravity yoga class, froyo at work, and yummy cookie dough cupcakes from the Sweet Tooth Fairy (to die for!).
I remember we went to the Dodo for dinner and that Nick wanted to take me on a hike (which is momentous!) but the weather turned sour. So, what did we do? Oh yeah, we went to Park City and shopped at the Outlets. I remember totally scoring that day when Gap was having 50% off their workout clothes - now I can workout and look semi-cute instead of the usual old t-shirt and hole-y sweat pants.
Nick got me a cool pedometer watch (yep, that's 21,532 steps in one day!) and a new carryon for my upcoming Chicago trip.
I swear that's my arm - I just got my dad's hairy man arms... Thanks Padre.

2 Years!

We celebrated 2 years on July 29th, 2013!
I wanted to plan it this year, and as I sit here I can't for the life of me remember what on earth we did.
I just remember it was kind of a dud - and I am a killer awesome date planner, so it was terribly disappointing.
Oh, now I remember. I woke up that morning on the wrong side of the bed and couldn't shake it the whole day -  you know, one of those days.
We went to dinner at Market Street where we had the worst service ever (I love the food, not the service, ugh). Then we went to the Despicable Me drive in movie - where somehow we got into an argument about where to park the car - I probably fueled that minor argument, let's be honest.
It ended up turning into a good night, but I'm not sure what my deal was! Thank goodness I have a sweetheart that puts up with all my craziness.
Love him even more today!

We're still working on a 2 year photo shoot - I'm so behind!
Oh, and this is what I got Nick for our anniversary. A Skagen watch - he's always wanted one! He loves it so much, he won't take the plastic off... oh brother.

Besties

This girl came to visit me!
I claim her visits are just to see me - a girl can dream can't she!?
We had a lot of fun going to a concert in the park downtown and catching up face to face! I love that we keep in contact via phone, but in person is so much better!

Ah, I love her! And now she has a new house with an extra bedroom! Minnesota here I come!

Dream House

I found my dream house! And I'm putting it on here so I don't forget about it - because I WILL own this house (or one very similar to it) one day!
Best part is, it's just 2 miles away from our current place - ah, Millcreek we love you.

I'm back!

Instagram has definitely taken the place of blogging lately. But, there's only so much Instagram can capture - and since I'm horrible at journaling, I need to update this blog! It's my yearly journal!
So, time to play catch up!
For starters, the 4th of July was a blast.
We had village inn breakfast (I was totally disappointed with the food) and watched the Murray parade (also quite a disappointment this year - we left early! Unheard of!)

Then we watched fireworks!

Oh, and went camping that weekend with friends Paul, Lindsey, Becca, Spencer, Amy, and Mike.
So much fun - and even more fun to be inside the trailer when the horrific thunderstorm came!

I think the $20 tent held up well!

We just slept in the car - yep, we're those people.
In my defense, it was a big deal getting Nick to camp with me, so we made it as accommodating as possible. It wasn't too bad except we needed about two more inches of leg room.

It was a very happy 4th! And rightly so, since it is my favorite holiday!
