Couldn't have timed it better

Love running Saturday errands with my hubs and discovering 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' playing at the dollar theaters while driving. Then deciding to drop everything and go see it - we planned it perfectly and only missed the first 3 minutes of the movie.
Best Saturday ever!
I'm getting better at this spontaneous lifestyle stuff!
BTW have you seen any of the 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' movies? They're hilarious!

Help!

They say the first step is admitting you have a problem:

I am addicted to cookie dough.

I can't go a whole week without the stuff!

I'm not sure how I'm going to overcome this addiction, and to be honest, I'm not sure I want to!

But the first step is admittance.

We'll start there...

Fall Time Fun

Fall has barely begun and already we've been on a couple fun, easy hikes. We often enjoy walks/bike rides up millcreek canyon since we live so close. We also enjoyed Donut Falls up Big Cottonwood this weekend. We even walked in on a proposal near the waterfall! It was so romantic - Nick could have cared less. Oh well.
If you haven't enjoyed our canyons yet, GET UP THERE NOW!!! The colored leaves are simply perfect. Don't wait one more minute...

Oh, and have I mentioned how much Nick loves baby animals? To me, feeding chipmunks seems like the perfect way to contract some disease, but Nick is fearless...

Date Night

Thank you Dating Divas for this lovely date night idea. Check out this link to get a great and FREE date night.
The actual post was at a bookstore, but since we have a library within a stones throw of our house, we decided to truly make it a free date and walked there.
Based on some suggested topics, you and your date fine different books and then come together to read them or look at them.
Somehow we both managed to find the SAME cookbook - maybe we've been watching a little too much of the movie "Julie and Julia".
Nick's favorite childhood book! He wasn't happy that I was taking pictures. Too bad!
Quiz books (or something to do!) - I LOVE where's Waldo books!
My favorite childhood books. Ok, let'e be honest, Arthur was one of my favorite childhood TV shows.
We had a lot of fun on our free date! (Until Nick begged me to buy him a coke...)

The Office

I sit at a desk for 8 hours a day telling people over the phone to be more active.
I'm an exercise and sport science major and I SIT all day long - it's painful.
I feel like I'm fighting constantly to keep myself moving.
FIGHTING.
I exercise every morning and try to do something movement related at night, but that's NOT enough. It is SO much better for our bodies to stay moving ALL day. Not to mention, better for our mid-sections. In fact, I have a legitimate fear of being overweight. It's not a small fear either.

How am I going to win this battle?
I'll tell you...

1. I stand at my desk as long as I can handle it and MOVE. I'll do leg movements, calf raises, squats, etc (I do as much as I can without feeling embarrassed because people are watching me).
2. Sometimes I'll go to the bathroom and do jumping jacks (because even though I work in a wellness office, it's still awkward to exercise at your desk where everyone can see).
3. I walk around the parking lot every hour (I'm lucky that I can come and go as I please - and I feel like my breaks allow me to be more efficient throughout the day).
4. I eat my lunch at my desk and work, then I go for a 30 minute walk or jog on my actual lunch break.
5. I sit on a fitball and bounce around.

Even though this seems like a lot, I still feel like I'm sedentary all day. For those of you at a desk all day, I can actually sympathize with you! Let's embark on this journey together!

I'm determined to keep myself active even when facing the inevitable 'office job'.

So, if I can do it, so can you! Get up and MOVE!!!
No excuses!!!

Will It Blend?

Once upon a time, I thought a kitchen Aid mixer was the holy grail of kitchen appliances. Well, I was wrong. Have you heard of The Blendtec? Nick found an industrial version ('cause that's how we do it at the Dall household!) for ridiculously cheap! $180 for a $600 machine? I'll take it!
We've been eating smoothies like crazy! Any way to get Nick eating his fruits and veggies - I'm in!

Pinterest Makes Everything Better...

Happy 1 year (2 months ago)!
Thanks Pinterest for the idea - you've changed my life for the better in so many ways.
Those of you that are too proud to admit it, don't be.

P.S. Love that cheese-ball kiss?! Yep, we're kind of awkward!
