We Bought a House

After living in a basement apartment for 2.5 years with screaming, and fighting, and screaming, and stomping, and screaming, and yelling, and screaming and jumping, and screaming, we decided it was time to move on ASAP. 

We made a pact in November that we would be out by February. We casually started looking at houses, but were kind of disappointed with the results being sent to us from our realtor. There was nothing we wanted to even go see! Then, a house came up on our list. Over budget, but perfect. We called right away and looked at it the next day. I've never been one to listen to my heart or 'feel' that something is right - it is either logical or not. My brain works in a very black and white manner. From the second I stepped into the house, I knew it was the one. It was so strong, there was no denying it or trying to make logic work - it was just right. There's no way the first house we walked through was the one?! So, we did our due diligence that week and went to about 5 other houses - just in case. Every time I looked at pictures of that first house, I had an overwhelming feeling it was ours. It sounds weird, but the house was almost 'familiar' to me. We didn't know how we were going to make it work when thinking about adding to our family in the future with the potential for changes in my income, but after much back and forth trying to involve logic and feelings, the feelings won. We didn't know how, but the Lord assured us that this was our house. 

A week later, we put an offer in on the house. After a little negotiation, our offer was accepted within just a few hours. *Insert sick stomachs here*. In fact, we were at Gardner village looking at furniture when we received the call for our offer. We were on our way to the temple that night and we both just sat stunned and nervous the entire rest of the night. The owners already bought another house and were going on vacation during what would have been the normal closing date, so less than a month after our offer, we were in our new house (December 14th). 

It felt like home right away. We have done a lot of painting and now are saving for yard and roof work in the spring/summer. It's been very peaceful and we know it's where we are supposed to be. We are in Holladay and our ward is amazing. We are happy.

We sit on 0.26 acres... which means a lot of yard to take care of! I'm not ready for that!

It's a little sparse for now, but we will add over time. We re-painted all the walls in the living room, bedroom, and kitchen and painted most of the trim in the upstairs. Now it's time to relax and enjoy our house a little! Until spring gets here...

P.S. Come visit! I love that I have space for people now! Even tall people! (Our last place has some pretty short ceilings)
